The following are some examples on how to use the Solids Lab tab functionality.

Many of these operations can be included in one Operations set to achieve a final outcome.

Example, the following operations can be performed in one Operation Set to achieve a final phase solid for Pit1 Stage 2.

Steps:

  1. Add operation Clip Surface By Polygons (Exclude Outside).

  2. In Surfaces dropdown import topo required from layers or files.

  3. Draw one closed polygon and press play button to run results.

  4. Add operation Create Solid Below All Surfaces.

  5. Import surfaces “pit1_s1” and “Output From Operation #1”.

  6. Add operation Create Solid Below All Surfaces.

  7. Import surfaces “pit1_s2”.

  8. Intersect the results of Steps 2 and 3 (#2, #3).

  9. Reduce the Complexity for the result of step 4 (#4) as shown below.

Clipping a Surface

Reduce the size of a surface file. Load smaller files into memory excluding data not required.

  1. Surface file imported. Can be imported from a file or from the Layers panel

  2. Can Drag & Drop files from the layers to the operation, click on the icon and drag

  3. Using the Polygon tool draw a polygon around the area required

  4. Run the operation by selecting the blue triangle

  5. Click on Result to see the outcome in the graphics screen

  6. Click on the green arrow icon to save the result to the layers pane

Clip a Surface

Creating a Solid for a Pit Stage

For a pit containing 2 phases, to create a solid phase of Stage 2 excluding Stage 1.The following Surface files are required,

  1. Upper surface topography

  2. Pit1_Stage1 design Surface file

  3. Pit1_Stage2 design Surface file

Required Stage 2 solid excluding stage 1

  1. Create a solid above the Pit1_Stage2 design

  2. Create a solid below the Pit1_Stage1 design and the natural surface file

  3. Intersect the 2 solids

All material above Stage 2 design Excluding all material below Stage 1 and the natural Surface

Clean Remnant Solids

Reduce Complexity Operation. Alows small remnant solids to be removed from a larger solid layer

  1. Input a solid

  2. Specify the minimum volume accepted. All solids with a volume below this value will be removed.
